The malacca cane we use is of the best possibly quality for making chairs and incredibly sturdy. It is a natural product that is steamed bent to make the frames and the chairs are entirely hand made. The bark of the malacca cane is left on the frame and since it is used the way mother nature provides it, it will come with all the imperfections that in no way affect the strength of the frames. Not one chair will be alike. Expect variations in grain, color, skin, bark, stain. The assembly of the chairs is hand made with galvanized staples and screws. This is the way they have been built for over 100 years as it is the best way to hand build those frames.
